Functional outcome of the intertrochanteric fracture of femur managed by Dynamic hip screw and proximal femoral nail: A prospective comparative study

چکیده
Intertrochanteric fractures are among the most common hip fractures, particularly in elderly with osteoporotic bones, and typically caused by low-energy trauma such as simple falls. Although PFN DHS have been used to treat intertrochanteric results conclusions inconsistent. The present Prospective Comparative study was conducted at Department of Orthopaedics, MSDASMC, Bahraich, over 24 months, from June 2019 2021. were treated randomly, whether using Dynamic Hip Screws (DHS) or proximal femoral nail (PFN). Out a total 60 cases, all them included. A group 30 patients separated into two groups: first received Screws, while second had PFN. Every patient followed for nine months after their treatment. In our study, mean Age 62.5 ± 4.26, group, it 63.7 3.78 years. higher Harris score (HHS) observed groups. Their intergroup comparison between revealed significant differences each follow-up. Furthermore, minimal blood loss, duration surgery, incision size low difference statistically compared group. Mean hospital stay also showed no differences. fracture femur, is more suitable fixation approach. To extent that will further generalizability dependability research, demand be granted.

Dynamic hip screw with locked plate VRS Proximal Femoral Nail for the management of intertrochanteric fracture: A comparative study
Dynamic hip screw has long been a standard implant for intertrochanteric hip fractures. The inception of intramedullary nails has further revolutionized their management. With a constant evolution in the designs of both these implants, there has always been a conflict concerning the superiority of one over the other. In this randomized prospective cohort study, 80 patients with intertrochanteri...
متن کاملA comparative study of proximal femoral fracture fixation with proximal femoral nail and Dynamic hip screw & plating
Introduction: Trochanteric fractures are one of the commonest injuries sustained predominantly in patients over sixty years of age. They are three to four times more common in women than in men. These usually occur through bone affected by osteoporosis; trivial fall being the most common mechanism of injury [1]. Discussion: The goal of this study was to compare the functional outcomes of patien...
متن کاملProximal Femoral Nail vs. Dynamic Hip Screw in Treatment of Intertrochanteric Fractures: A Meta-Analysis
BACKGROUND The aim of this meta-analysis was to compare the outcomes of proximal femoral nail (PFN) and dynamic hip screw (DHS) in treatment of intertrochanteric fractures. MATERIAL AND METHODS Relevant randomized or quasi-randomized controlled studies comparing the effects of PFN and DHS were searched for following the requirements of the Cochrane Library Handbook. Six eligible studies invol...
متن کاملType II Intertrochanteric Fractures: Proximal Femoral Nailing (PFN) Versus Dynamic Hip Screw(DHS)
Background: Intertrochanteric fracture is one of the most common fractures of the hip especially in the elderly with osteoporotic bones, usually due to low-energy trauma like simple falls. Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) is still considered the gold standard for treating intertrochanteric fractures by many. Not many studies compare the DHS with Proximal femoral nail (PFN), in Type II intertrochanteri...
متن کاملClinical and Functional Outcomes of Treatment for Type A1 Intertrochanteric Femoral Fracture in Elderly Patients: Comparison of Dynamic Hip Screw and Proximal Femoral Nail Antirotation
PURPOSE We aimed to evaluate and compare the clinical and functional outcomes of dynamic hip screw (DHS) and proximal femoral nail antirotation (PFNA) treatment of AO type 1 intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 194 consecutive patients with type A1 intertrochanteric femoral fractures who were treated with DHS (n=113) or PFNA (n=81)...
